Application of Hair Extensions
The misnomer of ‘tracks’ comes from the common, long-lasting method of integrating wefts, known as the ‘track and sew’ method. The ‘tracks’ are usually cornrows, braided in the direction of how the hair will fall. Toward the face or away, with or without a part, the tracks build the foundation of how the end result will look. The wefts are then sewn onto the braids, usually with a specially made, blunt-ended needle. The needle can be curved or straight. There are many different colors of specially-made thread to choose from, depending on what color of hair you will be integrating. Darker hair lends to darker thread. It should also be noted that when the hair is braided at a high level of tension, the client is at risk for traction alopecia.
Weaving – A braided track is created on the person head with either ones own hair or mixing it with synthetic hair. Then the wefted hair extensions is sewn on with weaving needle and thread. Creating the right track is important because if the track is too large, then it’s too bulky. Wefts may also be bonded directly to the clients hair using special bonding glue. Care must be taken not to bond the wefts directly to the scalp, as it can cause sensitivities in some clients. A patch test is frequently recommended, as per manufacturer’s directions(MFD).
Infrequently, wefts may be clipped in, with specially made clips sewn to the wefts themselves. This makes for a more temporary style, and is easily removed. Clipped-in wefts may add temporary color, length or fullness perhaps for a single event, such as a prom or wedding.
Bulk hair can also be bonded to the hair, using many different methods: from clips to adhesive.
Bonding hair extensions is simple and quick. It’s temporary so save it for one day use or for a special photo session when you want to flaunt your new hair do. It’s simply applying hair bonding glue on a track and attaching it on the root of your hair. Blow dry for about 10 seconds with no heat and you got instant hair extensions! Buy Hair Bonding Glue
Hair Fusion is a permanent method. Now, there’s so many variations of this type these days and so find out which method your stylist is able to do the best work for you. The main method is called the fusion method. Keratin glue sticks and glue gun which is similar to a ceramic glue gun is what you need to get started. You can use any type of hair to so this method. Pre-Tipped hair extensions is another variation of Fusion that is widely used today. It’s easy to work with because the hair comes with the glue tip. All is required is a Fusion Iron which melts the glue tip and then you mold the glue with your own hair. Another variations is hair locs which is a method where you again use a pre-tipped hair but this time the tip is shaped into a shoe string. You insert the tip into a metal fusion ring and close it tightly. It’s non-heat method and can be removed by opening the ring. One last method is the Cold Fusion. This is applying pre-tipped hair extensions by melting the tip with a super sonic iron. The super sonic noise emitted by the metal tips breaks down the glue and then you mold the tip with your fingers. Exactly the same as the traditional fusion method by melting the glue tip but without the heat. This is very interesting! However, it does make an irritable, high pitch noise!
